This is the set of Questions on Education Plan frequently asked by our Planholders.

2. When can my Scholar avail of my Education Plan benefits?

Your or your scholar may evail once the following conditions are met:
1. Your plan has been fully paid for. (A Certificate of Full Payment is issued to a planholder who has completed payment for his/her education plan).
2. Your education plan has reached maturity year. (Maturity year is indicated in your policy contract)
3. Your scholar is eligible to enroll or be admitted in college (Applicable for Heritage plans only).

3. How and to whom does Prudentialife Plans, Inc. (PLPI) release Education Plan Benefits?


There are three ways by which your education plan benefits may be released:


1. To the School, through the Direct School Payment Facilitation Agreement (DSFPA).
This is an agreement between Prudentialife and an accredited school whereby Prudentialife directly settles with the school, the tuition and school fees covered by your education plan. Prior to enrollment period, present original copy of the following documents to Prudentialife:
    - Certificate of Full Payment
    - Plan Contract
    - Letter of Acceptance from the school (for incoming freshmen)
    - Course Curriculum
b. Prudentialife will issue a Scholar’s Admission Slip (SAS).
c. To enroll, present the SAS to the school.
d. Prudentialife will pay the school based on the billing statement

For the suceeding availment, we will mail to you the SAS prior to your enrollment.

2. To the School, through Direct School Payment.
For schools not under DSPFA, the enrollment procedure is as follows
a. Present original copy of the following documents to Prudentialife
    - Certificate of Full Payment
    - Plan Contract
    - Registration/Assessment Form with breakdown of miscellaneous and other fees, subjects, and number
      of units
    - Course Curriculum
b. Based on the Course Curriculum and the Assessment submitted, Prudentialife shall prepare the corresponding check payment for the covered tuition and school fees. Check shall be made payable to the School.
c. Scholar shall remit the check payment to the School in order to enroll.

I n the absence of the Registration/Assessment Form, only 70% of the estimated school fees shall be released. The balance shall be reimbursed upon presentation of the required document/s.

2. To You, through Reimbursement of School Fees.
You may choose to enroll and pay the school in advance, then subsequently request for reimbursement.
a. Present original copy of the following:
    - Certificate of Full Payment
    - Plan Contract
    - Registration/Assessment Form with breakdown of miscellaneous and other fees, subjects, and number
      of units
    - Official Receipt
    - Course Curriculum
    - Planholder or Scholar ID
    - Authorization Letter, if check will be claimed by a representative (other than the planholder)
·   - Special Power of Attorney (SPOA), if check is to be made payable to a representative
      (other than the planholder).
b. Prudentialife shall prepare corresponding check payment, payable to the Planholder, Scholar or Representative, as the case may be.
c. In the case of an SPOA, the check to be issued is a Crossed Check.

If you wish to encash your check with the bank (RCBC, Legaspi Village Branch), you will need to present one Primary ID (Driver’s License, PRC ID, Passport, Major Credit Card with picture), or two Secondary IDs (Postal ID, Employee ID, Marriage Contract).

4. Where do I proceed to claim my Scholar's Education Plan Benefits?

To the School Operations Department at any of the following locations:

a. Metro Manila Branch Offices

The following FAQs apply for Heritage Plans Only

5. What school fees will be paid by Prudentialife under the college program?
For full scholar (meaning no adjustment to be made to school category), Prudentialife shall pay for standard school fees which include all subjects prescribed in the curriculum for a four or five year college course or a basic post high school certificate.

The standard school fees covered under the Prudentialife education program are Science laboratory, Athletics,
Speech laboratory, Counseling, Audio-visual, Registration, Medical and dental, Official School Publication, Library,
ID, and Internet Fee (for computer related courses only)

Excluded from the standard fees are Deposits (includes any deposit that is reimbursable to the student), Cost of Transcript of Records, Cost of books, Transfer of Credentials, Materials and Supplies, Removal Fees, Board and Lodging Expenses, Penalties, Personal Effects, Replacement Form, Rentals, Entrance Examination, Uniforms, Donations, Development Fees and other similar expenses not covered by the education plan, per General Provisions

6. What if Scholar exceeds the required number of years, because of back subjects or overloading

If the number of school years to complete the four or five year course is extended as a result of repeated or back subjects, Prudentialife shall cover the cost of tuition fees only for the extended period, provided that the accumulated number of units paid for by Prudentialife shall not exceed the total number of units required to complete the course.

Should there be any un-used Scholarship term as a result of summer classes or overload, we shall pay an amount equivalent to the cost of standard fees of the semester / trimester last enrolled in. This payment shall constitute the complete servicing of the education benefits of the plan.

7. Can a Scholar avail of the education plan benefits during summer term?

Summer classes, including their laboratory counterparts, are covered if required in the Scholar’s course curriculum. However, if the summer course is taken for the advance or delayed completion of the course, only the cost of the tuition fees shall be paid by Prudentialife.

8. What if I have another education plan with another company and I am at the same time availing of the education benefits in that company?

If the other company is paying for the enrollment of the Scholar, you may at the same time reimburse the school fees from Prudentialife, subject to the education benefits covered by your education plan with Prudentialife.
The following documents must be presented:
·Original copy of Certificate of Full Payment
·Original copy of Plan Contract
·Registration/Assessment Form with breakdown of miscellaneous and other fees, subjects, and number of units
·Course Curriculum
·Official Receipt
·Proof of payment by the other pre-need company

9. What schools are covered by my Prudentialife Scholarship plan?

A Prudentialife Scholar may enroll in any Philippine college or university recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Excluded from the Education Plan coverage are international schools, Philippine schools operating in foreign military installations, schools under foreign government curricula and other schools similarly situated. Likewise, excluded are programs not recognized by the CHED, programs covered only by temporary permits, programs conducted through extension classes, and programs covered by agreements (international linkages, twinning programs, etc.), involving foreign or alien government or foreign educational institutions.

If the Scholar enrolls in any of the excluded schools, the average tuition fee of schools under the original plan category shall apply.

10. What is a “twinning program”?

It is a joint project between a Philippine and a foreign university with the desire to build the capacity of both institutions, to operate, administer and manage an undergraduate or graduate program and to provide an opportunity for students to have an international diploma or degree.

It is undertaken by a Philippine university which has been recognized and has attained at least Level II accreditation by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and a foreign institution of Higher Learning which has been similarly recognized and accredited as a quality institution by an authorized accrediting body.

11. Can my PLPI scholarship program be availed of for a course that is covered by a twinning program?

No. By its very nature, a twinning program is undertaken not only by one but by two educational institutions. A twinning program is not within the scope of the Prudentialife Education Plan, which is applicable only to academic programs administered solely by a Philippine college or university.

12. What degree programs are covered by PrudentialifeI scholarship program?

The Prudentialife Scholarship Program covers any four-year or five-year college course (depending on the coverage of the Scholar’s education plan agreement) leading to a bachelor’s degree.
If the Scholar enrolled in a course which may require higher years to finish than what is provided for by the education plan agreement, Prudentialife shall only pay the first four or five school years.

Vocational courses that require at least five months or more are covered provided that a five (5) to six (6) months course is treated as one full semester. Additional fees such as cost of fuel, machine rentals or related fees shall be shouldered by the Scholar. Should the Scholar decide to take a vocational course, the Scholar has to formally waive his rights to a Bachelor’s degree.

In addition, the following Studies are NOT covered by the Prudentialife Scholarship Program:

-·Post Graduate Studies
-·Flying Aviation (Cost of Flight Training)
-·Driving Courses
-·Non-formal Studies/Courses

13. Can my scholar enroll in a school with a category that is higher than what is stated in my contract?

Yes, but Prudentialife shall pay a percentage of the schoolar's net tuition costs based on percentage of the contract price paid for as shown on the table below:

14. Can my Scholar enroll in a school with a category lower than what is stated in my contract?

Yes, Prudentialife shall pay for the tuition and standard fees of your chosen school with the lower category. In addition, you shall be given a refund of the excess proportionate contract price on a semestral or trimestral basis, whichever is applicable. For example:

15. What if my Scholar transfers to another school or shifts to another course during availment?

Computation of the remaining education benefits shall take into consideration all the tuition and standard fees already availed of, subject to the plan’s school category and scholastic level, and subject to Prudentialife’s policy on School Transfers.

16. What if my Scholar discontinues to attend school in the middle of the term?

If Scholar drops from classes after enrollment, whatever fees Prudentialife has already paid the school shall be considered part of the education benefits, and shall be deducted from the total benefits under the plan.

17. What if my scholar decides to discontinue studies while already availing?

If Scholar decides to stop studying, refund of the remaining benefits may be requested subject to the provision on Unavailed College Program Benefits/Refund.

18. What happens if I am not going to use my education plan?

Within 5 years from maturity, the following options are available:
a. Designate another Scholar
b. Transfer the education plan
c. Refund in Cash, subject to the provision on Unavailed College Program Benefits/Refund

After 5 years from maturity, the only option available is the Unavailed College Program Benefits/Refund.

ON REINSTATING YOUR LAPSED EDUCATION PLAN

1. When is my plan considered lapsed?

A plan is considered lapsed when an installment is not paid within 2 months from the due date.

2. What happens if my education plan lapses?

When your education plan lapses, the contract is without force and effect. You cannot avail of the plan's benefits. It cannot be amended, transferred or terminated. For Heritage Plan, it will be subjected to the prevailing Masterlist of Schools.

3. How do I reinstate my lapsed plan?

You may reinstate your plan within a period of two years from date of default (due date of the unpaid installment) with updating.

Updating - Reinstatement by updating is only allowed within a period of two years before maturity of the plan. Upon updating, you will be required to pay in full all the installments in arrears as well as the corresponding penalty charges and fees.

4. What are the requirements to reinstate my lapsed education plan?

To reinstate by updating, you will be required to:
1. Fill out and sign Reinstatement form*. For plans with a Co-Planholder, the Co-Planholder is required to sign in the Reinstatement form. If the Co-Planholder did not sign the reinstatement form, it will be processed without insurance benefit.
2. For Heritage plans, sign a new applicable Masterlist of Schools (MLS).
3. Pay arrearages, penalty charges, and reinstatement fee

5. What happens if I fail to reinstate my lapsed education plan within the two year period from date of default?

If your plan is not reinstated within two years from end of grace period, it will be automatically cancelled.

You may proceed to any Prudentialife branch office nearest you or to the Credit & Collection Dept at the PLPI Head Office, 2nd Floor, 118 Gamboa St., Legaspi Village, Makati City.
